Average and overlooked but incredibly gifted when it came to piloting, compassion, salvage, and general being. Totally! Average is absolutely what Luke and Anakin both were. One movie at a time we see a lonely scavenger find a family and become a Jedi, a stormtrooper becomes a resistance hero, a dark assassin ends up a redeemed hero in love, Poe (the weakest main character imo) goes from “hothead” pilot to a military leader while having his edge slowly revealed. The Force dyad starts as a connection made by Snoke to lure and have Kylo kill Rey, to being the key to them saving each other and stopping Palpatine.Įach of the main characters develop and grow from movie to movie, and we see their growth manifested. Luke goes from exiled legend to a mentor to the main character. Leia and Han save their son in a very poetic way in TFA Han is killed by a conflicted Kylo, in TLJ Kylo is unable to kill Leia himself, and in TROS Leia retriggers his memory of Han which saves him. The lightsaber and it’s significance is built upon mostly in TLJ. What are you talking about? Each movie builds on the next and the others and they also build on the past movies.įor example Rey’s vision in TFA is built upon mostly in TROS. And that is much more relatable and transformative than reading some do’s and don'ts's in a self-help book. Her entire arc in the ST is one of finding self worth and over coming insecurities, so she can be who was meant to be. But they can’t seem to move forward due to some kind of wound. Many people are capable and are competent. You look at her in TFA and see that she’s clearly smart, a good engineer (she’s familiar with the Falcon because Plutt trusted her enough to allow her to refurbish it) and can fend for herself. The more subtle stuff is that she has many qualities that so many of us can relate to. Watching Rey (and Daisy’s performance) you're inspired to be your best self, no mater your circumstances or how people treat you. She isn’t spiteful, nasty and has not allowed her circumstances to twist her into a bitter, sour ‘Karen’ type woman. She’s strong/tough without a need to throw her weight around (I’m looking at you Brie Larson as Captain Marvel).
Yet at the same time gives off a vibe that makes you want to think twice about throwing her under the bus.
